The HRV4Training app is the first scientifically validated Heart Rate Variability (HRV) app. It offers valuable insights based on HRV measurements to help individuals quantify stress, optimize their training and lifestyle, and enhance performance. What sets HRV4Training apart is its ability to accurately assess HRV using the phone's camera, eliminating the need for a separate heart rate monitor.
This app is compatible with various devices including Apple Watch, Oura ring, and all Bluetooth SMART sensors. But HRV4Training goes beyond basic measurements, providing users with in-depth insights and analysis:
- Acute or day-to-day HRV changes in response to different stressors like alcohol, travel, sick days, training, and menstrual cycle
- Long-term multi-parameter trends to gain a comprehensive understanding of overall health
- Correlations between physiological measurements and annotations for deeper analysis
- Training load analysis, fitness assessment, fatigue evaluation, readiness to perform assessment, and injury risk identification
- VO2max estimation for runners by linking the app to Strava or TrainingPeaks and using a heart rate monitor during workouts
- Training Polarization analysis (or 80/20) for optimal training planning
- Lactate Threshold Estimation for runners by linking the app to Strava or TrainingPeaks and using a heart rate monitor during workouts
- Weekly and monthly summaries to easily track progress over time
All the data collected is processed within the app itself, providing actionable interpretations that help optimize training plans and improve performance.
The camera measurement feature is supported on a range of iPhone models from iPhone 5 to the latest models. However, older iPhone models (like 4S) and iPads, as well as iPods, require the use of a chest strap for measurement.
Additional features of HRV4Training include:
- HRV-based advice for training adjustments based on objective recovery measures
- TAGS feature allows users to track and analyze parameters like sleep, mental energy, muscle fatigue, and stress
- Compatibility with Bluetooth SMART heart rate monitors or the phone's camera for measurement
- Integration with the Health app, allowing writing of heart rate and sleep data
- Configurable test options (single or orthostatic) with duration choices of 1, 3, or 5 minutes
- Data extraction and storage of various HRV features while lying down and/or standing
- PPG signal view for ensuring signal quality during the test when using the camera instead of a Bluetooth SMART sensor
- HRV4T Recovery Points providing a single metric to analyze physical condition
- Population summaries and data comparisons to provide perspective on individual data
- Analysis of compliance and consistency in data collection
- Data export options via email or Dropbox
- Integration with popular platforms like TrainingPeaks, SportTracks, Genetrainer, and Strava
An account registration with an email address is required for HRV4Training in order to ensure safe data backup and retrieval in case of any issues or device changes.
